About this Project
Light Red Over Black
1957, Mark Rothko
This project, Writing Through the Void: A Diary of Fear, History, and Hope, is a deeply personal and historical record of our times, blending introspection with urgent socio-political commentary. It emerges from a desire to document the turbulent and often unsettling reality of the present, grappling with the fear of insignificance in an era where voices are easily lost in the digital void. Through this diary, I seek to process the chaos of global events, democratic backsliding, and environmental collapse, while also reclaiming the act of writing as a means of self-connection rather than mere performance for an audience. Inspired by historical diaries that have shaped our understanding of the past, this project stands as both a personal exercise and a call to others: to write, to record, and to bear witness to history in real-time. Whether or not these words are read today, they may one day serve as invaluable echoes of a moment in history that must not be forgotten.
